Fees Structure

James Tucker charges his work at the following basic rates:

Preparation work and drafting advices:  £75 per hour

Advocacy/ attendance at court :              £600 per half and £1200 per full day.

Fees are not subject to VAT.

Please note that when the barrister attends court the fee will be charged for waiting at court, conducting any conference with the client or the opponent, attending on the court and advocacy.

So, for example if the barrister:

  • attends the court at 9am and leaves at 1pm (4 hours), during which time 30 minutes is spent in the court room, the fee will be £600.
  • attends the court at 9am and leaves at 1pm (4 hours), during which times 3 hours is spent in the court room, the fee will still be £600.

Any attendance at court which takes the matter into the afternoon (after 2pm) will be charged at the full day rate of £1200.

So, for example if the barrister:

  • attends the court at 9am and leaves at 2.30pm (5.5 hours), during which time 30 minutes is spent in the court room, the fee will be £1200.
  • Attends the court at 9am and leaves at 6pm (9 hours), the fee will still be £1200.
